In addition to speaking at Farmer’s Days throughout the country, information pertaining to the latest developments in beef industry is presented at courses and symposiums by Peter.


In 2003 Peter Milton developed a new Mildex system that;

• With the aid of S.A Stud Book, a Breed plan analyses of stud herds are carried out.
• The Mildex plan is also available for commercial as well as Stud breeders to effectively measure kilogram produced and net profit.
• Marketing and selection of breeding Bulls and Rams is conducted by placing correct Bulls and Rams in a producers system.
• The Mildex Buy and Breed (MBB) package enables new Stud breeds to begin with top selected healthy and productive animals with membership included for the respective Breed Society.

In 2001 Peter joined the Central Vet group. This group works in co-operation with Vets to assist producers with professional advice regarding least input costs for maximum returns.

Peter joined Beefcor in 1998. as the Farmer Liason Manager, his primary objective was to procure weaners for the feedlot. This was achieved through the establishment of sound relationships with the farmers, who where encouraged to commit themselves to supporting the feedlot, based on a win-win situation.

He was then promoted to Taurus Manager of Beef Semen in 1992. He instituted a joint venture with a veterinary group named the “Live Stock Health and Production Group”, which entailed synchronization of cattle. He compiled a Beef Price List in co-operation with the Agricultural Research Council whose main objective was to be more user friendly.

He was involved in herd consultations with specific attention being given to economical aspects and system breeding. He was also requested to judge at shows of different breeds. As a result of the best percentage growth in synchronised breeding INTERVET sponsered a European tour in 1997 of all breeds from England, Germany, France and Italy.

In 1987 Peter was appointed as the Technical Manager of the Brahman Society in Bloemfontein. He formulated the “MILDEX” later called the “BRADEX” System, a computer evaluation of Brahman for objective as well as subjective traits.

Peter moved to Groblersdal in 1977 where he farmed with the Beefline Brahman Stud and mixed crops. During this time he was also employed by the Brahman Cattle Breeders Society as a Technical Advisor. Recognition for the promotion of the breed resulted in a trip to Brazil in 1986.

Peter Milton was born in Krugersdorp (1952) and grew up on a farm in Swaziland. He completed his Senior Schooling at Benoni Technical High. He went to the University of Pretoria and obtained a BSc (Agriculture) in 1976. The Student Body elected him as Chairman of the Agriculture Student Committee.

Peter has three children, Brendon who works for SAB, Sven who is busy with his honors in Quantity Surveying and Vahsti who is in her third year of BAcc.
